Painted Wood

These are driftwood pieces collected from the Potomac river for their interesting shapes and painted with acrylics.  The painting emphasizes the abstract form and brings out details often overlooked in its original state.  I am interested in the topography of the wood which creates a landscape of ancient connotations for me.  I use aboriginal like designs to highlight certain areas and evoke a primitive connection with Nature.
